From Introvert to Author with Steve Friedman
In today’s episode, Jeff begins a series of shows exploring people who have created businesses based on their skills. In this show, Jeff interviews Steve Friedman of Beyond Introversion from Austin TX.
Steve and Jeff discuss:
- First 30 years of his career were spent working in the corporate world.
- As an introvert he found it difficult and challenging to work around extroverts.
- He always had to put on a façade of extroversion to be successful.
- After leaving corporate he left and went back to something he had always wanted to do…writing.
- Wrote two books on introversion. The most recent was, “The Corporate Introvert”.
- The first book is tough and a solitary process. Went through a process learning how to be a writer.
- Now getting on to campuses to share with students about introversion.
- Also he is working with smaller teams to help them understand about introversion.
- His newest book talks about how families with Special Needs children can transition them from high school to independent living.

- What is the biggest mistake that you have made in business? “Fear of Missing Out. As a new writer, I knew I didn’t know a lot. I absorbed everything that I could and just decided on what makes me comfortable writing.”

Jeff spent the early part of his career working for others. Jeff had started 5 businesses that failed before he had his first success. Since that time he has learned the principles of a successful business and has been able to build and grow multiple seven-figure businesses. Jeff lives in the Austin area and is actively working in his community and supporting the growth of small businesses. He is a board member of the Incubator.Edu program at Vista Ridge High School and is on the board of directors of the Leander Educational Excellence Foundation
